Your dedication to famous people is commendable, as you have repeatedly shown your

commitment to them by how you follow their every move, attend their concerts, buy their albums, and flock to movie theaters to purchase tickets to see their latest movies. One rarely sees such devotion these days, especially in an age when people appear not to care for others. Your loyalty can be seen by the sheer number of followers many celebrities have throughout their various social media accounts. Of course, said celebrities do employ individuals whose sole responsibility is to make sure their public “image” is framed in the best possible way. A way that allows them to repeatedly bask in the adulation you shower upon them. Your staunch support apparently knows no limits, as many of you have begun to take up the sword to fight for them if need be. Is this done out of the kindness of your heart because you think they can do no wrong? I ask as, lately it appears many of you have elevated them to a god like status, which one can only assume is the reason why you fight for them so vigorously. Is this a wise action to take? Are they gods, or mere mortals who have been lucky, and in some cases, artistic enough to reach a level of popularity that has proven successful for them? Are they as wonderful as their publicists have created them to be? Do they deserve to be protected in the fashion you do? Again, I ask as the manner in which you fight for them has become rather hostile, especially if anyone shares a negative comment or questions the validity of their talent. When this happens, your kindness towards others evaporates and you become blood thirsty warriors seeking to avenge the honor of said superstar. I most unfortunately have been at the receiving end of several assaults myself. I’ve been called a racist, an asshole, and threatened due to the fact that I dared to question a artist’s artistic merits, or if they even deserved the accolades heaped upon them. The fact that you attack others’  is perplexing as the comments were/are directed toward the stars themselves, not you as a whole. So, why have you taken it personally and decided to verbally assault me and others in such a brutal and hateful manner? Do you honestly think your actions and behavior are acceptable? The fact that you treat others the way you do and feel famous people are above reproach has become a rather disturbing trend. No one, regardless of what you may think, is that gifted or that great of a person that they need you to protect them from what others think, especially in the way you do. You seem to have forgotten these individuals chose to be in the spotlight, which in doing so, they knew that criticism comes with the territory. So, do you honestly think they even know you are out in the world defending their image? An image that once again was created by their publicist. Probably not because they are so insulated by their employees that they don’t even know you exist. So why are you doing it? If you will, I’d like to point out a few facts about three famous singers that many of you apparently think are untouchable: Britany Spears, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift. Britney Spears was manufactured into a pop star by record execs and their marketing team. When contrasted to other artists of her caliber, she lacks in the creativity department as well. Compared to, let’s say Madonna, Britney has not added anything innovative to the music industry in the same fashion as Madonna has. The latter being known for pushing boundaries and breaking down doors for other female artists who have followed in her dance steps. Has Britney broken down any barriers? Has she changed the perception of female singers the way Madonna has? Then there is Beyonce. She is talented, she can sing, and she is able to hire individuals who have enhanced her marketability, but as of lately, she appears to rely on her reputation to achieve success on any project she undertakes. This is most evident with her last album, Cowboy Carter. Just because she is Beyonce and says this is a country album does not make it a country album, and yet you, her accolades, believe her and will berate anyone who says otherwise. There are a few songs that might be considered country; however, this does not constitute it as a country album as it does not fit the country music genre formula. The upheaval you devotees have unleashed on people who think otherwise is, in short, is appalling. To call someone a racist, solely because they don’t like the album oversteps numerous acceptable boundaries. If anyone treated you the way you treat others, I can only assume you’d be offended, and insist the offending person be arrested for threatening you. Yet, that’s exactly what you do, you threaten others. You might consider taking off your “Beyonce is fabulous glasses” and listen to the album, you might hear something else like the rest of the world has. Taylor Swift, she set out to be a singer, she writes her songs and has done a remarkable job with marketing herself. Does this mean she should be elevated to the status of the greatest singer of all time as many of you believe she is. Sadly, I must say no. Being the greatest at something is about destroying barriers, being innovative in their industry, and being a groundbreaker, a pioneer. Taylor Swift is none of these. Are any of these ladies’ pioneers like Barbara Streisand, Cher, Madonna, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, Blondie, Judy Garland, and Liza Minelli to name a few have been? I think not. I know that just by questioning these ladies, and voicing a different opinion about any beloved public figure is likely to garner me more hate mail, and rude comments, but are any of your idols that outstanding, or are they people who have been lucky enough to have a really fabulous career? And most importantly, what is it about them that inspires you to follow their every move and defend them in such horrible fashion? What does your conduct say about you?

Sincerely,

Mz. Taylor
